Your editors have discovered a site full of Northwest flora and fauna. From time to time, we'll switch to a new plant or critter from the world of Betty MacDonald.

Our first new friend is "lysichiton americanus" aka "skunk cabbage" with its seasonal flower and broad leaves. It is found within the coastal forests of the Cascades and Olympics (yes, those Olympics near Chimacum). Click it for a larger view.
